The Feature Area is relatively new to the Guardino Gallery. Situated in the front area where the frame shop used to be, the new Feature Area will host "Mini-shows" on a changing monthly basis. We will also be scheduling the Window as a showing area and a place for installations.

IN THE FEATURE AREA:

Nesteren Demirdag a ceramics artist is who hand builds clay sculptural works, many of which are Raku fired. Nesteren's work is both emotional and intellectual; figurative and literal. Recently, she has been fascinated with the biological nature of human body parts. Her latest works are uncanny depictions of the heart, the teeth, the leg, and various bones that we have working inside us. Her work takes us both outside and inside ourselves by forcing us to confront the sublime nature of the human animal.

2megumi1 Megumi Endo is a painter whose inspiration comes from variety of places, “from nostalgic corners of foreign lands that I have never been to, to colors that have burnt into the back of my brain as childhood memories.” She explains, “memories are often saved and remembered as a distinct scent in the air, random numbers that pops into my brain and the most ordinary use of color that appeals to me,” Her paintings are often done in series to capture these emotions in consecutive sequences.

IN THE WINDOW GALLERY:

Gene Phillips work focuses on contemporary sculptural high-fired clay pieces with embedded designs. Each piece is individually created as a unique one of a kind original. Many designs are figurative in nature emphasizing form, motion and texture. Some have a dance-like feeling. Phillips has chosen glazes that compliment the shape and rhythm of the forms.
