Bill Dean creates strong narratives with his assemblages constructed of found objects/materials. Dean haunts yard, garage and estate sales, often finding a peculiar object that captures his interest.  According to Dean “This chosen piece triggers the memory of some hidden object in a box or on a shelf in his studio.  Once united, the play and magic starts by adding or subtracting additional elements.  This associative process results in a finished piece.  Dean’s use of titles is the final step in adding one more possible layer for the viewer.  His work is often times playful and other times socially charged.

Mark Teresa’s recent mixed media assemblages incorporate the use of words in his pieces, both of his own writings and quotes from others.  He calls his work “three dimensional poems”.  They are created in an organic and intuitive process.  He works within a structure or box and fills it with life, or least Teresa’s vision of life.  Themes range from his critique of consumerism, religion, our current government, protecting the environment to romantic love. His ever-present “tongue in cheek” humor is readily apparent. His biting comments make their presence known in one piece populated with miniature people with thimbles on their head and words proclaiming a “mad case of thimble hair” and  “This was is spent”.
